Hillsong Live album recording
Sunday night we went to the Hillsong Live cd recording. Loved it. For those of you who have been to teenstreet, waiting outside and getting into the arena was pretty much the same. It was mental.
We found some seats and while I was out getting some diet coke and some chocolate I got chatting to many a person. Such incredibly nice people. One lady even had a great word from God for me. Super encouraging. When I came back inside someone was chatting to Jane, really nice girl who is studying at the college in Hillsong.
The night started with Joel Houston the Creative Director of Hillsong and the leader of United live and also the writer of some incredible songs singing a beautiful song that he had just written. Obviously not meant to be a part of the set but I loved that that was how they started the evening; with a humble heart and a song to encourage perhaps even one person there.
The night was led by five different singers; Joel Houston, Brooke Fraser, Reuben Morgan, Darlene Zschech and Ben Fielding who sang two songs each. It wasn't straight through music. They had different readings and small talks. The visual and audio production was excellent. I wouldn't have expected anything less from them as they were recording a cd and dvd but still it was very impressive. There were a lot of musicians on stage who swapped a couple of times. As in there were two different drummers, two different bass players etc. On stage were drums, bass, 3 electric guitars, 1 acoustic, 3 keyboards, violin, cello and numerous singers. That makes for some cracking music.
The cd should be out in July and has a number of amazing songs on it. Jane has become a big Brooke Fraser fan (as have I) and her songs, focused on the cross where beautiful. Her 2nd album called 'Albertine' is excellent and if anyone reading this likes her tunes in Hillsong I'd encourage you to get it. The only slight downer was the song we heard last week which blew my head off, sang by Matt Crocker, at the live recording it was sung by Darlene which to me didn't pack the same punch! Still the song itself is amazing, no idea what it's called, probably 'Sing out to God'.
Can I say one more time that I'm sure they have many a problem but those who constantly put them down yet sing their songs most Sundays really need to stop judging and thank God for their incredible ministry. Last but not least we felt more welcome there than any other church we've visited.
